Individuals Wishing to Volunteer
At this time, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is NO longer accepting individual medical and relief worker applications. More than 33,000 health care professionals and relief personnel have registered with the Department of Health and Human Services for possible deployment in affected areas. We thank you for your interest.

For Medical Reserve Corps (MRC) Members: Each MRC unit is developing a roster of MRC members interested in this activity. If you are interested, you should ask your MRC leader to include you on the roster. All local MRC unit leaders have been asked to ensure that local community needs are met first. For more information about the Medical Reserve Corps, see www.medicalreservecorps.gov.

Message from the Publisher
We extend our sympathy to all those who lost family members, friends, and neighbors in Hurricane Katrina, and to those who are displaced, afraid, and hurting in its aftermath.

Nursing Spectrum salutes the dedicated nurses and other health care providers caring for patients and their families in Louisiana, Alabama, and Mississippi, and now across the nation. You make us proud!

As the Gulf Coast begins to pick up the pieces after this disaster, we will continue to cover the health care implications associated with Hurricane Katrina’s destruction. We will also bring you the stories of nurses who are helping in the recovery efforts in Nursing Spectrum and NurseWeek magazines and on our Websites.
